Philippine Army Hailed for Securing 2025 National and Local Elections

The Philippine Army lauded its personnel for their critical role in ensuring the peaceful, orderly, honest, and credible conduct of the May 12, 2025, national and local elections.

As the primary force provider to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Army deployed troops nationwide to secure polling places, transport election materials to remote and high-risk areas, and protect election personnel in designated hotspots.

In close coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Army executed a comprehensive election security plan to maintain peace and order during the voting period.

The 1st Infantry Division, in collaboration with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Philippine National Police, and local government units, ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) across its area of responsibility in Zamboanga Peninsula on May 12, 2025.⁩

The Army leadership commended the professionalism and strict non-partisanship of its personnel, which significantly contributed to the successful execution of the democratic process.

Army units also addressed election-related security concerns, including the neutralization of members of private armed groups and the hosting of a canvassing center for provincial, congressional, and party-list votes in Maguindanao del Norte.

Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido reaffirmed the Army’s continued commitment to post-election security operations until all newly elected officials are formally proclaimed and assume office.

He also emphasized the Army’s preparedness to support the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) elections in October 2025, covering key municipalities in Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Cotabato City.
