The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has deployed two helicopter units to assist in relief operations in the Bicol region, which remains isolated due to widespread flooding from Typhoon Kristine.
During a situation briefing at Malacañang on Friday, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro reported to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that the 205th Helicopter Wing and the 505th Search and Rescue Group are sending all available aircraft to the area.
President Marcos directed the military and uniformed services to mobilize all manpower and resources to support relief efforts.
Secretary Teodoro stressed the need to maintain an air bridge and deploy necessary personnel to ensure aid reaches all affected communities.
Currently, PAF personnel are stationed in Naga City and Legazpi to support relief operations.
In a statement, the PAF noted that the 505th Search and Rescue Group deployed a Bell 205A helicopter for Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis in areas impacted by Typhoon Kristine.
The assessment will help identify severely affected locations to prioritize immediate relief and response operations.
The PAF’s deployment is part of ongoing Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief efforts in the region.
