PDEA arrests brazilian woman for foiled P10-million liquid cocaine smuggling at NAIA

MANILA – A 32-year-old Brazilian woman was arrested by government anti-narcotics agents on Friday, October 24, for allegedly attempting to smuggle around P10 million worth of liquid cocaine through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported.

According to PDEA, the suspect was intercepted at around 5 p.m. at the NAIA Terminal 3 Customs International Arrival Area during a joint interdiction operation.

Authorities seized approximately 1,899 grams of suspected liquid cocaine hidden inside 10 knot-tied transparent latex packets containing a yellowish substance, which were concealed in a black brassiere labeled “DelRio.”

In addition to the illegal drugs, agents also confiscated the suspect’s Brazilian passport, boarding documents, foreign currencies, assorted bank cards, mobile phones, and other personal items.

The seized substance has been turned over to the PDEA Laboratory Service for chemical examination, while the suspect remains under PDEA custody.

The woman will face charges for violating Section 4 (Importation of Dangerous Drugs) under Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
