Acting Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez has submitted his irrevocable resignation.
In a statement, Chavez revealed that he tendered his resignation as early as February 5.
He expressed regret over stepping down, admitting that he felt he had not fully met the expectations placed upon him.
Chavez explained that he approached each day in office as if it were his last, giving his utmost dedication and effort.
He extended his heartfelt gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the opportunity and honor to serve in the administration, as well as for the trust and confidence given to him.
Chavez stated that he would remain in the PCO until February 28 or possibly earlier once the Palace appoints his replacement.
He assured that he will continue to support the Marcos administration and its initiatives as he transitions to a new path outside the government while remaining in public service.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that former TV reporter Jay Ruiz has been chosen to replace Chavez as the new PCO chief.
However, Malacañang has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
