President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has launched new social welfare programs aimed at providing Filipinos with greater opportunities for a better life.
The president introduced these initiatives during the 74th-anniversary celebration of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
“Every single centavo spent, every program that is implemented, every decision that has been made must serve a very clear purpose: to create opportunities that endure, that uplift, and reach far beyond just today,” President Marcos stated.
Among the newly launched programs is the Harmonized Electronic License and Permit System (HELPS), designed to streamline the application process for licenses and permits.
Another key initiative is the Minors Traveling Abroad System, which aims to modernize the travel clearance process for minors, ensuring their safety and security.
The president also highlighted the Pamilya sa Bagong Pilipinas Program, which focuses on providing direct support to Filipino families.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian emphasized the department’s digital transformation with the tagline, “Do not fall in line, go online.”
President Marcos underscored the vital role of DSWD in not just providing assistance but also giving hope to Filipino families striving to overcome poverty and communities recovering from disasters.
He further stressed that these programs require collective effort and public support to succeed.
The president called on Filipinos to work together in building a nation where every citizen has the opportunity to dream, strive, and achieve success.
