Ombudsman Suspends Albay Governor Amid Jueteng Allegations

The Office of the Ombudsman has issued a preventive suspension order against Albay Governor Edcel Grex Lagman due to alleged involvement in the illegal numbers game, jueteng.

Lagman confirmed the suspension himself in a Facebook post, stating that he had anticipated the order.

However, the governor vowed to contest the preventive suspension, asserting that it lacks legal basis.

He also questioned the timing of the suspension order, suggesting it is suspicious given the upcoming elections.

Currently, Vice Governor Glenda Ong Bongao has assumed the role of acting governor of Albay.
