MANILA, Philippines — Senate candidate Manny Pacquiao has attributed the issue of teenage pregnancy to what he calls “sexual immorality,” emphasizing the need for strong parental guidance and faith in God.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Feb. 21, the former senator and boxing champion, who is running under the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas slate, stressed that parents play a crucial role in educating their children about moral values.

“For me, we should encourage parents to guide and educate their children so they don’t engage in such activities,” Pacquiao stated.

He underscored the importance of religious faith in shaping young people’s choices. “They need to be taught about God because sexual immorality, especially outside of marriage, goes against His teachings,” he said.

Pacquiao acknowledged that falling in love is a natural part of life but maintained that young people must develop a sense of reverence and fear of God.

“Eventually, they will experience love, but they must be taught that God exists and that they should fear Him,” he added.

The boxing legend-turned-politician also linked moral lapses to personal struggles, asserting that sins committed against God contribute to human suffering.

“Sexual immorality is widespread across the world. As parents, it is our responsibility to teach our children good values and steer them away from such behavior,” said Pacquiao, who is known for his strong Christian beliefs.
