Bulusan eruption whole-of-government response will once again be implemented by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) to assist families affected by the series of eruptions of Mount Bulusan.
OCD Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno stated that the agency will closely coordinate with other government departments to ensure a unified and effective disaster response.
This coordinated approach will include relief operations led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), health monitoring and medical supply distribution through the Department of Health (DOH), and other support initiatives from relevant agencies.
Nepomuceno also emphasized the need for a singular, streamlined evacuation process to ensure the safe and efficient movement of affected residents.
To maintain real-time monitoring, the OCD regional office in the Bicol Region has been directed to provide daily situation reports regarding volcanic activity and evacuee conditions.
The use of a whole-of-government strategy aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to adopt a coordinated disaster management plan during calamities.
Nepomuceno added that strong coordination with local government units is crucial to the effectiveness of the response system.
