The National Security Council (NSC) is closely monitoring activities related to the 80th birthday celebration of former President Rodrigo Duterte on March 28, 2025.
According to NSC Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya, there are no intelligence reports indicating any security threats.
Despite this, Malaya confirmed that intelligence agencies, along with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), are on heightened alert.
He assured the public that the security sector is closely monitoring the situation to ensure peace and national stability.
Meanwhile, the AFP reaffirmed its full support for the PNP in maintaining law and order across the country.
AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Jimmy Larida emphasized that it is the military’s mandate to assist law enforcement operations led by the national police.
While Larida declined to disclose specific security measures, he assured the public that the AFP is taking necessary steps to uphold peace and order.
Despite the ongoing political tensions, the AFP remains professional and non-partisan, Larida added.
He also noted that AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner has consistently reminded soldiers to uphold their sworn duty with integrity.
Larida further emphasized that the AFP remains strong and united in fulfilling its responsibilities.
