Motorcycle Gunmen Kill Barangay Captain and Son in Ilocos Sur

A barangay chairman and his son were killed in a shooting incident in Barangay Lapting, San Juan, Ilocos Sur at around 7:10 PM on Monday.

The victims were identified as Barangay Chairman Bello Joseph Padua Valorozo, 52, and his son Jumar Sotelo Valorozo, 24, a farmer, both residents of Barangay Caronoan, San Juan, Ilocos Sur.

The suspects remain unidentified.

According to the San Juan Municipal Police Station, the victims were traveling in their Mitsubishi MV 100 van along the national highway when they were suddenly fired upon by unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle.

Chairman Bello was rushed to Suero General Hospital in Cabugao, where he was declared dead on arrival.

His son, Jumar, was initially brought to Pira Hospital and later transferred to Northside Doctors Hospital in Bantay, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Authorities from the San Juan Municipal Police Station have coordinated with nearby police stations to launch a dragnet operation to apprehend the suspects.
