Motorcycle and Van Collisions Leave One Dead, Several Injured in Cagayan

Cagayan road accidents have resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries following three separate collisions involving motorcycles and vans in different towns.

A 14-year-old boy, identified only as Marvin, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital after a motorcycle crash in Barangay Sampaguita, Solana, Cagayan.

According to the Cagayan Police Provincial Office, Marvin was driving his motorcycle with a 15-year-old passenger named Adel when they collided head-on with another motorcycle driven by 28-year-old Jordan.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Marvin’s motorcycle veered into the opposite lane, causing the accident.

All three individuals were thrown off their motorcycles and sustained injuries, with Marvin suffering fatal wounds.

In a separate incident in Barangay Baybayog, Alcala, three men sustained injuries when the van they were riding crashed into a post on the morning of February 10, 2025.

Herome Ibarra, Alcala’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, reported that the victims were traveling from Santiago City, Isabela, to Badoc, Ilocos Norte.

Ibarra stated that the driver may have fallen asleep as there were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

The van’s front section was heavily damaged, and rescuers had difficulty extricating the trapped driver.

The victims were initially brought to a local hospital before being transferred to Tuguegarao City for further treatment.

Meanwhile, another motorcycle accident occurred in Amulung, Cagayan, leaving a 22-year-old rider with multiple leg fractures.

According to PMaj Jose Cabaddu, chief of PNP-Amulung, the accident took place at 7:00 PM on February 9, 2025, along a dark section of the provincial road in Barangay Annabuculan.

The motorcycle rider, reportedly speeding, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an oncoming L200 van driven by a 29-year-old resident of Western Amulung.

The impact shattered the van’s windshield and dented the motorcycle, while the rider suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

Authorities continue to investigate these incidents as they remind motorists to observe road safety measures.
