Missing Farmer’s Body Found Weeks After Crossing River in Ilagan

A farmer who was reported missing after crossing a river to gather food for his carabao was found dead in Cabisera 9-11, City of Ilagan.

The victim, identified as Guillermo Hidalgo, was discovered weeks after he was last seen on December 4, 2024.

Ilagan City Police Station spokesperson PCapt. Noralyn Andal confirmed that Hidalgo was last seen alive crossing the river near the fields where he collected food for their carabao.

A witness recounted seeing Hidalgo wade through the river shortly before his disappearance.

The victim’s body was later discovered by another farmer who had gone to the river to fish and found the remains buried under thick mud.

The location was identified as part of the river in Cabisera 9-11.

Hidalgo’s family believes he drowned and confirmed that there was no foul play involved in his death.

Prior to the discovery, Hidalgo’s wife sought help from Bombo Radyo Cauayan after he failed to return home following his routine task.
