According to Santillan, the suspect attacked Dahil-Dahil with a bolo from behind while he was at a sari-sari store.

After the victim collapsed, the suspect beheaded him and placed his severed head near his legs before fleeing the scene.

The suspect was later arrested while hiding in a concrete pipe in Barangay Caliling, and the murder weapon was recovered.

It was revealed that the victim and the suspect had been summoned to the barangay on December 27 to settle their land conflict.
