La Union Police Identify Person of Interest in Real Estate Broker’s Murder

The Luna Police Station has identified a person of interest in the murder of a real estate broker in Barangay Darigayos, Luna, La Union, but authorities have yet to establish a clear motive.

According to PMajor Lawrence Ganuelas, Public Information Officer of the La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO), investigators are exploring multiple angles in the case.

The victim, Benigno Lorica, a 73-year-old real estate broker and land developer, was shot dead outside a restaurant on May 29, 2025.

Lorica, a resident of Barangay Maria Cristina, Bangar, La Union, sustained two gunshot wounds from a .45 caliber firearm, hitting both sides of his abdomen.

Witnesses reported that the two suspects, both male, fled the scene on a motorcycle.

The driver was wearing a black jacket and helmet, while the gunman was dressed in a gray t-shirt.

Authorities said the suspects escaped northward immediately after the attack.

Lorica was initially rushed to the Luna Rural Health Unit before being transferred to Balaoan District Hospital for further treatment.

Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the crime scene to identify the suspects and gather additional evidence.
