La Mesa Dam Breaches Critical Level; Flood Alert Raised for Tullahan River Communities

The La Mesa Dam in Quezon City has exceeded its critical water level, prompting flood alerts for nearby low-lying communities.

As of 11:00 AM, the dam’s water level reached 79.60 meters, surpassing the critical threshold of 79.50 meters by ten centimeters.

Once the dam hits 80.15 meters, it will automatically begin releasing water to prevent overflow.

Continuous rainfall over the La Mesa Watershed Reservation is contributing to the steady rise in water levels.

If the dam overflows, flooding is expected along the Tullahan River, affecting areas in Quezon City (Fairview, Forest Hills Subdivision, Quirino Highway, Sta. Quiteria, San Bartolome), Valenzuela (North Expressway, La Huerta Subdivision), and Malabon.

Residents in these areas are advised to monitor water levels closely and prepare for early evacuation if necessary.
