Kanlaon Volcano erupted this afternoon, prompting the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) to raise its alert level to 3.
According to Mari-Andylene Quintia from the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory in La Carlota City, the eruption occurred at 3:03 PM, releasing thick smoke and ash.

The volcano expelled a plume measuring approximately 3,000 to 4,000 meters high.
Continuous monitoring is underway as volcanic activity persists.
Authorities have urged residents near the volcano to remain vigilant, wear face masks to avoid ash inhalation, and evacuate if necessary.
The volcano’s last recorded eruption was on June 3, 2024.
