Japan nursing and care jobs for Filipinos are now open as the country launches job opportunities for nursing graduates, with applications accepted until April 2025.
According to the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in partnership with the Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS), will accept applications for 50 registered nurses and 300 certified care workers.
These job openings are offered under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA).
To qualify as a nurse (Kangoshi) in Japan, applicants must be a Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduate with an active Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license.
They must also have at least three years of experience working in a hospital, clinic, or health center.
Additionally, candidates must be highly motivated and committed to training and working as a Kangoshi to obtain a national nursing license in Japan.
For care workers (Kaigofukushishi), applicants must either be a nursing graduate, regardless of PRC license status, or a graduate of any four-year course with a TESDA National Certificate II in Caregiving (NC II).
They must also be dedicated to training and working as a Kaigofukushishi to qualify for a national caregiving license in Japan.
Selected candidates will undergo a six-month Japanese language training program in the Philippines, followed by another six months in Japan before starting their three-to-four-year employment in Japanese hospitals and caregiving facilities.
The Japanese Embassy confirmed that the language training is free, and candidates will receive a daily allowance throughout the entire training period.
The embassy also encourages candidates to obtain their Japanese licenses for Kangoshi and Kaigofukushishi to secure longer employment terms in Japan.
The deadline for application submissions is April 4, 2025, at the central and regional offices of the DMW.
