The ship carries 264 officers and cadets and is currently in the middle of a 20-month voyage around the world.

The journey began in July 2023 from Italy, with the ship making stops at various ports across Europe, Africa, and both American continents.

In Asia and Oceania, the Port of Manila is one of the scheduled stops, as per the ship’s original itinerary.

The Amerigo Vespucci is named after the 15th-century Italian explorer and navigator, Amerigo Vespucci, from whom the name “America” was derived.

The ship, commissioned in 1931, is known as one of the oldest active tall ships in the world and is often referred to as “the most beautiful ship in the world” due to its classic design and historical significance.

The vessel continues to serve as a training ship for cadets of the Italian Navy, providing a unique platform for hands-on naval education and leadership training.
