Civil society organizations, religious leaders, sectoral representatives, and families of “Tokhang” victims have filed an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

The complaint, submitted to the House of Representatives, alleges four grounds for impeachment: culpable violation of the Constitution, graft and corruption, bribery, and betrayal of public trust.

Akbayan Representative Perci Cendaña endorsed the complaint to the Office of the Secretary General in Congress.

Former Senator Leila de Lima expressed support, describing the impeachment as a “moral crusade” to uphold dignity and decency in public service.

The complaint marks the first impeachment case against Duterte and highlights growing opposition to her leadership.

Supporters of the move argue it reflects public dissatisfaction over alleged abuses and controversies involving the Vice President.

Congress is expected to deliberate on the complaint, a process that could shape the political landscape leading up to the 2025 elections.
