MANILA, Philippines – The House of Representatives has granted a travel clearance for Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte, allowing him to visit multiple countries, including the Netherlands, in the coming weeks.

Rep. Duterte sought permission for a personal trip to the Netherlands and Japan from March 12 to April 15, 2025. The request, addressed to House Speaker Martin Romualdez, has reportedly been approved.

The Netherlands is home to The Hague, where the International Criminal Court (ICC) is based.

The approval comes a day after former President Rodrigo Duterte, Rep. Duterte’s father, was arrested by Interpol on March 11 in connection with crimes against humanity charges before the UN-backed court.

Vice President Sara Duterte, the lawmaker’s sister, also reportedly departed for The Hague on Wednesday morning.

A travel clearance is required for government officials leaving the country. The House of Representatives is currently on recess until June 2.
