CIVILS society groups filed plunder, bribery, and malversation complaints on Friday against Vice President Sara Duterte and several officials from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and Department of Education (DepEd) over alleged misuse of confidential funds.

In response, the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) described the complaint as “both alarming and amusing,” calling the allegations “the same recycled fabrications circulated for years.”

“Anyone would see that the current Ombudsman is merely a lapdog of Malacañang, capable of bending or even disregarding the law to follow the orders of his master, President Marcos,” PDP Deputy Spokesman Ferdinand Topacio said.

Topacio further warned that, with the administration’s credibility and trust ratings falling and the prospect of a Sara Duterte presidency approaching, the Marcos administration might resort to “purely foul means” to prevent it.
