House appropriations committee chairman, Rep. Zaldy Co, has expressed his support for the proposed ₱82.4 billion budget for the judiciary for fiscal year 2025.
The budget is intended to address urgent issues, such as case delays and court congestion, which threaten the country’s justice system. Co recognized the judiciary’s strategic reform plan as a key step toward resolving these challenges.
Included in the plan are the creation of a Supreme Court governance committee, digitization of judiciary libraries, and the implementation of new regulations to enhance efficiency.
The proposed budget will support these initiatives and other reforms aimed at improving leadership, promoting gender equality, and upholding human dignity within the judiciary.
Co urged his fellow lawmakers to approve the budget, emphasizing it as a critical investment in creating a more efficient, modern, and accessible justice system for all Filipinos.
He reiterated his commitment to supporting reforms that will strengthen the judiciary and improve the rule of law, ensuring swift and fair justice for every Filipino.
