Generally fair weather expected on Christmas Day – Weather bureau

MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos are set to enjoy a mostly fair-weather Christmas Day, as the state weather bureau reported no low-pressure area likely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility over the next three to five days.

Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the easterlies will continue to dominate weather conditions over Metro Manila and most parts of the country.

This will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Villamil added that the same weather system, characterized by warm and humid conditions, will affect the Bicol Region and Quezon province, where cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, will prevail over Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora, producing cloudy skies with light rains within the next 24 hours, Pagasa said.

The amihan will also influence the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the remaining parts of Central Luzon, where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are likely.
