Former NPA rebel Eduardo Linogon Jr. was honored by the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) as this year’s Outstanding Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA) for his bravery and loyalty to the 79th Infantry Battalion in Sagay City.
Linogon, 33, surrendered to the government in 2023 and now serves as a CAA assigned to Barangay Caduhaan in Cadiz City.
He played a key role in a military operation in Escalante City in February 2024, where despite being wounded, he assisted in the neutralization of three NPA members and the recovery of 20 firearms.
The award was presented to Linogon by 3ID commander Maj. Gen. Michael Samson during a ceremony held at Camp Peralta in Jamindan, Capiz on April 21.
According to the 79th Infantry Battalion, Linogon’s experience and knowledge from his time in the rebel movement significantly contributed to the military’s operations.
He is the second consecutive CAFGU member from the 79IB to receive the prestigious recognition.
