Police arrested a man on Friday for allegedly stabbing and killing his two-year-old child during a domestic altercation in Lubao, Pampanga.
Authorities identified the suspect only by the name “Harold.”
He was apprehended around 12:30 p.m. while hiding at his uncle’s residence in San Roque Dau 1st village.
The suspect reportedly fled after a heated argument with his partner that escalated into violence and ultimately led to the child’s death.
Police revealed that the suspect had physically assaulted his live-in partner inside their home.
The woman initially fled for safety but returned to retrieve their child.
As she attempted to take the child, the suspect allegedly attacked again with a bladed weapon, unintentionally stabbing the toddler.
The child was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
A police pursuit operation led to the suspect’s arrest at his uncle’s house, where the relative also attempted to obstruct justice.
Police said the uncle was arrested for trying to shield the suspect from authorities.
During the search of the suspect’s belongings, officers also discovered a hand grenade.
The suspect now faces charges of homicide, attempted homicide under the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, and illegal possession of explosives.
