A family’s home in Sto. Tomas, Isabela, was engulfed by flames while submerged in floodwaters from Typhoon Pepito.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo Cauayan, homeowner Rosmito Gannad said he was helping his neighbors when he saw fire consuming the second floor of his house.

He suspects that a candle left burning near a plastic cabinet might have fallen, causing the blaze.

Gannad could do nothing but cry as he watched his home go up in flames.

He did not attempt to enter the burning structure because it was too dangerous, but neighbors managed to extinguish the fire.

Nothing was saved, as all their belongings were on the second floor, placed there because the ground floor was submerged.

Despite the devastation, Gannad expressed gratitude that no one was hurt.
