Leonardo has been accused of involvement in the ambush of former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Board Secretary Wesley Barayuga.

According to House Committee on Public Order Chair Dan Fernandez, while they have not yet received Leonardo’s sworn statement or affidavit, they have gathered information suggesting that the former commissioner may testify.

Fernandez stated that whatever Leonardo reveals will serve as significant evidence supporting previous testimonies made by former PCSO General Manager Royina Garma.

He assured the public that the Quad Committee will verify the truthfulness of Leonardo’s statements to ensure that no false testimony is made.

The committee is not dismissing the possibility that witnesses may exploit the hearings to lessen their own liability.

Fernandez also noted that Leonardo may have felt pressured, prompting him to finally disclose the truth.

The accusations against Leonardo are serious, as multiple testimonies have implicated him in the killing of Barayuga, which may have influenced his decision to cooperate.

The next hearing of the Quad Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22.
