Vice President Sara Duterte has accepted the challenge from legislators to undergo a neuropsychiatric test after she made controversial remarks about exhuming the body of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. if the Marcos family continued to politically pressure her.
Duterte also said she would take a drug test and challenged legislators, whom she views as unstable, to undergo the same test.
The vice president called on the Philippine Medical Association and the Philippine Psychiatric Society to establish guidelines for the tests as soon as possible.
She emphasized that the tests must be done immediately, as waiting for three months would allow candidates to clear the tests by temporarily halting drug use.
Duterte stressed that the tests should be televised to ensure transparency and prevent any tampering with the results.
She also proposed that an independent third party conduct hair follicle testing and urged the PMA to facilitate the drug testing she requested.
Duterte called on voters to demand that all candidates in the upcoming elections undergo drug tests.
The vice president reiterated that she has no issue with taking the test, but claimed that the administration is pushing her to align with the opposition.
She added that critics are frustrated with her because she is incorruptible and cannot be bought.
