A dump truck and an oil tanker collided along the Andaya Highway in Brgy. Bulawan Sr., Lupi, Camarines Sur on the evening of Friday, April 4, 2025.
According to Lupi Fire Station spokesperson Evenezzer Montalbo, both vehicles were reportedly speeding along a poorly lit stretch of road undergoing reblocking works.
The impact of the collision left the dump truck driver trapped in the driver’s seat for over an hour, making rescue efforts difficult and causing a traffic build-up lasting approximately one hour and forty minutes.
Authorities said the oil tanker had two passengers, but neither sustained injuries from the incident.
Emergency responders struggled to extract the injured dump truck driver, who is now recovering at a local hospital.
Montalbo emphasized that the area is prone to accidents and urged motorists to slow down, especially when driving at night or in construction zones.
He also advised drivers to take breaks when feeling fatigued and to exercise patience on the road to prevent further mishaps.
