The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its Ayuda sa Kapus ang Kita Program (AKAP), continues to extend support to vulnerable sectors, this time focusing on college students in Buguias, Benguet.

On November 30, the agency, in collaboration with Senator Lito Lapid, distributed financial assistance to 200 student beneficiaries.

Under the AKAP initiative, each beneficiary received ₱5,000 to help cover educational expenses and other necessities. The program aims to provide relief to low-income families and promote opportunities for higher education despite financial constraints.

DSWD officials commended the collaboration with Senator Lapid, highlighting how joint efforts between government agencies and legislators amplify the reach and impact of social welfare programs.

During the distribution event, Senator Lapid emphasized the importance of education as a tool for long-term success.

He encouraged the students to focus on their studies and make the most of the assistance provided.

“Ang tulong na ito ay para sa inyo at sa inyong pamilya. Sana ay magamit ninyo ito nang tama at magsilbing inspirasyon upang pagbutihin ang inyong pag-aaral,” Lapid said in his message to the beneficiaries.

Buguias Vice Mayor Dione Baucas expressed gratitude to Senator Lapid for personally visiting the community and bringing much-needed aid. “Malaking tulong ito sa ating mga estudyante, lalo na’t malapit na ang kanilang mga pagsusulit,” Baucas noted.

The student beneficiaries also conveyed their heartfelt thanks to Lapid and the DSWD, citing how timely the assistance was, especially with the increasing demands of the school season.

The AKAP program is part of the DSWD’s broader mission to address poverty and support education, with leaders like Senator Lapid playing a vital role in its implementation.
