The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has reminded private employers to follow proper pay guidelines for the upcoming regular and special holidays this December.

Under Labor Advisory No. 14, Series of 2024, December 8, 24, and 31 are designated as special non-working holidays.

Regular holidays include December 25, celebrated as Christmas Day, and December 30, observed as Rizal Day.

For special non-working holidays, the “no work, no pay” principle applies, but employees who work on these days will receive an additional 30% of their daily rate, excluding overtime pay if applicable.

On regular holidays, employees who work are entitled to double pay, while those who do not report to work will still receive 100% of their daily salary.

Overtime work on both types of holidays will entitle employees to additional compensation as per labor laws.
