DOJ Rejects Quiboloy’s Claim of Surrender Amid Pending Charges

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has stated that the recent actions of KOJC leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and four others cannot be considered a surrender to authorities.

During the DOJ’s press briefing earlier today, it was explained by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla that the police were made to struggle in locating Quiboloy. According to Remulla, it was believed that Quiboloy’s actions were triggered by a sense of imminent capture by law enforcement.

It was suggested by Remulla that this was the reason the pastor was forced to come out of hiding. Quiboloy, along with four co-accused, is currently facing charges of child and sexual abuse at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC), as well as qualified human trafficking charges at the Pasig RTC.

In addition to these, multiple cases have also been filed against Quiboloy in the United States. It was also clarified by Remulla that before any extradition request can be filed by the International Criminal Court (ICC), Quiboloy’s cases in the Philippines must first be addressed.
