Dismissed Cop Shot Dead by Five Gunmen in Bago City

A dismissed cop shot dead in Bago City was ambushed by five unidentified gunmen in Purok Michelle, Barangay Dulao.

The victim was identified as Renaldo Bernel, a resident of Barangay Pacol, Bago City.

Initial reports from the Bombo News Team indicate that the shooting occurred around 8:30 AM.

Bernel had just dropped off his child at school and was on his way back to a poultry farm where he worked.

While riding his motorcycle, he was suddenly gunned down by five armed men.

Authorities recovered 16 fired cartridges from a caliber 5.56mm firearm, nine fired cartridges from a caliber 9mm gun, one live round of 9mm ammunition, a fired bullet from a 9mm gun, the victim’s motorcycle, a handheld radio, and a cellphone from the crime scene.

A police pursuit operation against the suspects is ongoing.

Investigations revealed that former Police Officer 2 Reynaldo Bernil was previously charged with murder along with former police asset Carlo Riosora of the Silay City Police Station.

Both were accused of killing Police Senior Officer 4 Roger Cañete in Barangay Poblacion Dos, EB Magalona, in 2015.
