The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced Monday that it has downgraded the alert level for Filipinos in Israel due to improved security conditions in the area.
According to the DFA, the alert status has been lowered from Alert Level 3 (Voluntary Repatriation) to Alert Level 2 (Restriction Phase), effective immediately.
There are over two million Filipino migrants in the Middle East, including an estimated 30,000 caregivers in Israel and more than 1,100 in Iran.
The Philippines previously expressed support for the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran last week but continues to urge ongoing dialogue to permanently end armed conflict between the two nations.
The Philippine government also expressed hope that the temporary ceasefire will serve as a significant step toward long-term peace in the region.
Meanwhile, the DFA assured the public that it will continue to monitor developments in the Middle East and update the alert level if necessary.
