Education Secretary Sonny Angara expressed his gratitude to the millions of Filipinos who voted in the midterm elections and urged them to continue supporting efforts to strengthen the country’s education system.
He cited the high voter turnout of 80% as a testament to the public’s strong commitment to democracy.
Angara echoed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s message that a smooth and peaceful election marks a renewal of democracy and a call to address key national issues.
He emphasized that newly elected officials must prioritize education and use data to better address the needs of the sector.
The education chief also praised over 600,000 teachers and Department of Education (DepEd) personnel who served as frontliners during the elections, acknowledging them as vital to the integrity of the electoral process.
Angara encouraged everyone to become advocates of education as the country continues to move forward.
