Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner personally inspected key military defense facilities in Palawan, particularly important naval installations, to assess the ongoing infrastructure development crucial for strengthening the country’s external defense posture.
According to Secretary Teodoro, the facilities, including projects in Balabac, Palawan, were ordered to be expedited by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to enhance the AFP’s external defense capabilities.
These facilities play a significant role in protecting the Philippines’ sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea.
Balabac is set to become a forward operating base for the Philippine Air Force, further bolstering the nation’s air defense capabilities.
The visit of Secretary Teodoro and AFP Chief Brawner highlights the commitment of the Department of National Defense (DND) and AFP to strengthen the country’s military infrastructure and ensure the protection of its sovereignty, amidst the ongoing aggression from China in the West Philippine Sea.
