Crime Cases Against Women in Butuan Decline, Police Report Confirms

The Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) has reported a decline in cases of Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAW-C) in the city.

The data was released during the 2nd Quarter Meeting of the Special Action Committee on Anti-Criminality, showing a drop in cases from March to May 2025 compared to December 2024.

Records indicate that VAW-C cases decreased from 14 in December to 10 in recent months.

Additionally, violations of the Anti-Rape Law of 1997 (RA 8353) dropped significantly, with only one recorded case, compared to 15 cases previously.

Cases under the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313) also declined, with only one reported case, down from two.

Meanwhile, the number of cases related to Acts of Lasciviousness remained at one, while Rape with Homicide also recorded a single case.

Authorities urge the public to report crimes immediately to help maintain safety and security in Butuan City.
