The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), which is responsible for the implementation of the National ID system, has expressed its support for the BSP’s decision.

Despite the contract termination, the PSA has assured the public that the issuance of National IDs will continue as planned.

Additionally, the PSA advised the public that, aside from the physical ID, digital versions of the National ID can also be downloaded in various formats, providing more flexibility for users.

The National ID system, known as the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), was launched to streamline and unify the various identification systems in the country.

Managed by the PSA, the project aims to enhance government services, reduce corruption, and improve access to financial services.

The National ID contains essential information such as the holder’s full name, date of birth, gender, and address, and is intended to be used for various transactions with both government and private entities.
