A dismembered body of a man was found floating in a river in Barangay Lacab, Jones, Isabela, indicating a possible heinous crime.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo Cauayan, PMaj. Prospero Agonoy, chief of the Jones Police Station, stated that a concerned citizen reported the discovery of the dismembered body around eleven o’clock yesterday morning in Barangay Lacab.
He said that the body had no identification as it was missing its head and hands; it was also unclothed except for its briefs.
The PNP estimates that the body had been floating in the river in Barangay Lacab for two to three days before it was found.
According to PMaj. Agonoy, it is unlikely that the body simply drifted to the location because the river’s current circulates within Barangay Lacab, suggesting that the body was likely dumped in Jones, Isabela, as there were no signs of a crime scene in the immediate area.
Based on leads they are following, it is possible that more than two people were involved in the crime; they are currently reviewing CCTV footage that may lead to the suspects.
Other police stations in neighboring towns have also been alerted for the swift apprehension of the suspects responsible for the brutal killing of the victim.
Meanwhile, the family of Sary Cristobal, a man reported missing in Angadanan, Isabela, has contacted the Jones Police Station to verify if the found body is him; however, due to the missing head and hands, they are having difficulty confirming his identity, so they have undergone DNA testing.
Currently, the man’s body is undergoing examination to determine his identity.
