CAVITE Fourth District Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga on Wednesday faced his third cyberlibel complaint in a week, following a viral social media post accusing National Unity Party (NUP) lawmakers of receiving bribes.
In the post, Barzaga claimed that ahead of the 2025 elections, NUP lawmakers allegedly accepted bribes from businessman Enrique Razon in exchange for backing the re-election of then-Speaker Martin Romualdez.
The latest complaint was filed by Manila Second District Rep. Rolando Valeriano, an NUP member, who argued that Barzaga’s January 9, 2026, post “was made maliciously and with reckless disregard for the truth.”
“This is an affront to the entire NUP, not just to one Member,” Valeriano said, adding that the post “intended to stain a whole bloc of legislators through one sweeping allegation, without evidence, without verification, and without accountability.”
Both Razon and Deputy Speaker Ronaldo Puno have already filed separate cyberlibel cases against Barzaga.
On Tuesday, Barzaga apologized to Razon over what he described as a “personal issue,” but insisted he is prepared to face the businessman in court.
When asked if the apology covered his bribery accusations, Barzaga clarified: “For the personal issue. I will still be facing him in court.”
Last December, the House of Representatives suspended Barzaga for 60 days after finding him “guilty of disorderly behavior” over what it described as “reckless” and “inflammatory” social media posts.
