FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The Reserve Command, Philippine Army (RCPA) marked its 41st founding anniversary with the theme “Matatag na Tagapagbuo ng Hukbong Mamamayan para sa Bagong Pilipinas” at the command’s headquarters in Camp Riego de Dios, Tanza, Cavite on September 1, 2024.
Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, in his keynote remarks, tasked the RCPA to organize reserve units to be able to effectively fulfil its mandate to defend the country and mobilize in times of war, rebellion or national emergency.
The Army Chief also challenged the RCPA leadership to develop more affiliate reserve units that focus on the transport sector.
“As a land force, the main challenge is our ability to move forces from one area to another. If we will rely solely on our KM450s and KM250s, then the intention cannot be achieved. Thus, the transport sector has to be our affiliate,” the Army Chief remarked.
Lt. Gen. Galido also called on Army reserves to continue their crucial role in nation-building activities. RCPA, which is led by its commander Maj. Gen. Romulo A. Manuel Jr., is tasked to develop a capable, responsive, and mobilizable reserve force as an integral part of the Army.
