The Philippine Army officially installed its new Vice Commander and Chief of Staff on July 8, 2025, during a Joint Assumption of Office and Donning of Ranks Ceremony held at Fort Bonifacio.
Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, the Army Chief, presided over the ceremonial donning of the two-star ranks for Maj. Gen. Efren F. Morados as Vice Commander and Maj. Gen. Ronald Jess S. Alcudia as Chief of Staff.
Morados previously served as Deputy Commander of the 803rd Infantry “Peacemaker” Brigade from July 2020 to February 2023 before taking the helm of the same unit in February 2023, and concurrently held the post of Assistant Division Commander of the 8th Infantry Division since March 2025.
He is a distinguished member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1992.
Meanwhile, Alcudia commanded the 202nd Infantry “Unifier” Brigade from December 2023 prior to his new role, having earlier served as its Deputy Commander from March to December of the same year.
He hails from the PMA Class of 1993. In his speech, Lt. Gen. Galido commended the leaders for their proven track records and leadership qualities, expressing confidence in their capacity to steer the Army’s external defense transition.
“With your proven leadership, wealth of experience and deep understanding, I am confident that you will not only sustain this momentum but raise it to even greater heights,” Galido stated.
He concluded his address by urging the two generals to focus on their strategic mandates in service to the Army and the Filipino people.
