The Philippine Army (PA) enhanced its territorial defense operations through closer collaboration with the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in a five-day interoperability exercise.
The PA-PAF Interoperability Exercise (IOX) began on October 7, 2024, at the 5th Infantry Division Headquarters, Camp Melchor Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela.
Brig. Gen. Eric A. Gachalian, PAF Tactical Operations Wing Northern Luzon (TOWNOL) Wing Commander, highlighted the importance of cooperation to ensure operational readiness and national defense.
A total of 1,100 Philippine Army personnel and 351 PAF members are participating in the exercise.
The IOX focuses on Command Post Exercises (CPX), Staff Exercises (STAFFEX), Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs), and Field Training Exercises (FTX).
These activities aim to enhance the joint execution of air and ground operations, aligning with the PA’s shift towards territorial defense.
The Army leadership urged participants to test and improve their ability to conduct joint missions and ensure readiness for territorial defense.
