Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo personally appeared at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday to file her counter-affidavit in response to multiple charges filed against her.

The complaints were lodged by the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

A preliminary investigation was conducted earlier regarding charges of tax evasion, falsification of public documents, and violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Attorney Nicole Hamilla, one of Guo’s legal counsels, stated that the counter-affidavit contains the former mayor’s defense against the allegations.

Guo declined to issue any statements and was tightly guarded by personnel from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) as she arrived via ambulance.

Following the preliminary investigation this afternoon, Guo was immediately returned to the Pasig City Jail Dormitory, where she is currently detained in connection with separate charges involving illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) activities.
