The International Criminal Court (ICC) appears to be waiting for Philippine authorities to determine whether Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa will be surrendered or subjected to arrest proceedings, according to an ICC legal representative.
Atty. Kristina Conti, assistant to counsel at the ICC, made the statement amid ongoing legal and political developments involving the senator.
Conti said the ICC is not directly monitoring or overseeing the actual process of a possible arrest of Dela Rosa.
However, she emphasized that the international tribunal remains focused on the decisions and actions of the Philippine government as the authority responsible for enforcing any legal obligations related to the case.
Dela Rosa has been linked to investigations concerning his role in the anti-drug campaign of the previous administration.
Public attention remains fixed on the government’s official position should the ICC issue formal orders concerning the senator.
