The camp of former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has requested the court to dismiss the quo warranto petition filed against her by the Office of the Solicitor General in July, seeking her removal from office.

Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra confirmed that the motion filed by the former mayor is now up for resolution after being heard by the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 34 on August 30.

If the motion to dismiss is denied, Guo will be required to submit her comment or answer to the petition for quo warranto, after which the court will conduct hearings and issue a ruling.

It can be recalled that in August of this year, the Office of the Ombudsman removed Guo from her position as mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, and permanently disqualified her from holding any government office due to grave misconduct related to her involvement in a raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in her town.

Meanwhile, the Tarlac City Regional Trial Court is scheduled to hear the petition for the cancellation of Guo’s birth certificate on September 18.
