PAGASA Warns of Heavy Rain as Uwan Intensifies

Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong) has rapidly intensified over the Philippine Sea, prompting PAGASA to raise Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 in several provinces across Luzon and Visayas.

As of 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, the typhoon was located 680 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, moving westward at 35 kilometers per hour.

Uwan is carrying maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts reaching up to 170 kilometers per hour, with a central pressure of 965 hPa.

Its strong to typhoon-force winds extend up to 780 kilometers from the center, affecting wide areas of Luzon, Visayas, and parts of Mindanao.

Signal No. 2 has been raised over Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and portions of Samar Island.

Signal No. 1 remains in effect over Quezon, Romblon, Camarines Norte, Masbate, Leyte, Cebu, Bohol, Dinagat Islands, and other nearby provinces.

PAGASA warns of heavy to torrential rainfall beginning Saturday afternoon in the Bicol Region, with risks of flooding and landslides in low-lying and mountainous areas.

By Sunday to Monday, intense rains are forecast to shift toward Northern and Central Luzon, particularly Aurora and Nueva Ecija.

Storm surges exceeding three meters are possible in coastal communities of Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar.

A gale warning is in effect for the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas, with seas as high as 14 meters expected.

Typhoon Uwan is expected to make landfall late Sunday evening or early Monday morning over the southern portion of Isabela or northern Aurora.

After landfall, the storm will cross the mountainous terrain of Northern Luzon and exit into the West Philippine Sea by Monday afternoon.

Residents are urged to prepare emergency kits, evacuate if advised, and monitor official PAGASA bulletins for localized warnings
