SENATOR Joel Villanueva on Thursday denounced as “harassment” the move of Ombudsman Boying Remulla to enforce a 2016 dismissal order previously issued against him.

In a statement, Villanueva presented documents to prove that he has no pending administrative or criminal cases. “We already anticipated possible harassment plus fake news,” he said.

The senator shared copies of certifications from both the Office of the Ombudsman and the Sandiganbayan dated September 10, 2025, confirming that there are no ongoing cases against him.

He said he had recently requested the documents in anticipation of political harassment.

Remulla earlier disclosed that he had written to Senate President Tito Sotto, asking for the implementation of the 2016 order dismissing Villanueva from public office.

The order, issued by then-Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, stemmed from allegations that Villanueva misused P10 million from his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) when he was still a member of the House of Representatives.
