Following the argument, the boy left the house, went to a store, and used a phone to contact the authorities.

He dialed 110, China’s emergency number, and requested to speak to the police, telling them that he had evidence that his father was hiding poppy shells, which are considered illegal drugs.

Calmly, the boy waited for the police to arrive, offering to guide them to his home for a search to verify his claims.
Upon investigation, the police discovered eight dried poppy shells on the balcony of the house.

The boy’s father admitted to purchasing the poppy shells but insisted that they were intended for medical use.

While poppy shells have medicinal properties, such as relieving pain, reducing stress, and aiding sleep, they remain illegal in China due to their connection to opium production, which has contributed to significant social issues in the country.
