Woman Dies in a Fatal Car-Truck Collision

A woman died in a collision involving a Mitsubishi Mirage and a wing van truck in Barangay Tacas, Jaro, early this morning.

The victim was identified as Rizalyn Anacan, a resident of Dumangas, Iloilo. The car’s driver was Joseph Anacan Sumagyo.

According to PCol Andy Pava, a traffic investigator, the car was traveling from Mandurriao, while the wing van truck was headed to Tacas from Buhang.

Witnesses reported that the Mitsubishi Mirage was speeding and attempted to overtake a pickup truck. However, the car failed to return to its lane and collided with the oncoming truck.

Other passengers of the Mitsubishi Mirage were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities have yet to determine where the deceased woman was seated in the vehicle during the collision.
